version 1:

EVERY YEAR, CANADIAN FISHERMEN SHOOT, BLUDGEON AND SKIN OVER 300,000 BABY SEALS. MANY SPEND HOURS DYING IN THEIR OWN BLOOD. OVER 40% ARE SKINNED ALIVE.

THIS IS AN INDUSTRIAL HUNT SUBSIDIZED BY THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT AND PUSHED BY CANADIAN SEAFOOD CORPORATIONS. FISHERMEN EARN VERY LITTLE OF THEIR INCOME THIS WAY. THIS SLAUGHTER CAN BE STOPPED, AND WE CAN STOP IT. BOYCOTT CANADIAN SEAFOOD.

VISIT HARPSEALS.ORG TODAY.

version 2:

Did you know that over a million baby harp seals were killed in Canada--primarily for their skins--during the past three years? It's the largest slaughter of marine mammals in the world. Worse yet, as many as 42% of these seals are skinned alive.

The good news is that Americans have the consumer power to change this. Since the sealers make their living as fishermen most of the year, and Americans buy 70% of Canada's seafood exports, by boycotting Canadian seafood, we can pressure this industry to end these massacres.

So remember, you can save the seals by boycotting Canadian seafood.

Visit Harpseals.org for more information and to help.

version 3:

This year, Canadian sealers will kill over 325,000 defenseless baby seals. They’ll skin over 100,000 seals alive.

These off-season fishermen net only about $40 per pelt.

This is the largest slaughter of marine mammals in the world. It’s run by the same agency that wiped out the North American cod.

But Americans can stop the massacre. We buy 70% of Canada’ seafood exports. We can save the seals. Boycott Canadian seafood.

Visit Harpseals.org for more information.

version 4:

Every year, Canadian fishermen shoot, bludgeon, and skin over 300,000 seals. Most are less than 3 months old. Many are skinned alive. Many spend hours dying in their own blood.

This is an industrial hunt subsidized by the Canadian government and pushed by Canadian seafood corporations. The fishermen earn only 5% of their income this way.

This slaughter can be stopped, and we can stop it! Boycott Canadian seafood.

version 1:

OVER 300,000 BABY SEALS WERE KILLED IN CANADA BY OFF-SEASON FISHERMEN THIS SPRING. THESE SEALERS STORM THE PRISTINE NURSERY AND BLUDGEON OR SHOOT EVERY SEAL PUP IN SIGHT, LEAVING CRIMSON ICE PANS LITTERED WITH SKINNED CORPSES.

OVER 40% OF THESE SEAL PUPS ARE SKINNED ALIVE. FOR ALL THIS SUFFERING, THE SEALERS EARN LESS THAN $40 PER PELT.

THIS INDUSTRIAL HUNT IS THE LARGEST ANNUAL SLAUGHTER OF MARINE MAMMALS IN THE WORLD.

BUT AMERICANS HAVE THE POWER TO STOP THIS. THE CANADIAN FISHING INDUSTRY IS BEHIND THIS BLOODY SLAUGHTER. SINCE AMERICANS BUY 70% OF CANADA’S SEAFOOD EXPORTS, WE CAN PRESSURE THE FISHING INDUSTRY TO STOP THIS SLAUGHTER.

YOU CAN HELP BY BOYCOTTING SEAFOOD WITH "PRODUCT OF CANADA" LABELS IN STORES AND ASKING WHERE THE SEAFOOD IS FROM IN RESTAURANTS. PLEASE, BOYCOTT CANADIAN SEAFOOD.

version 2:

Did you know that over a million baby harp seals were killed in Canada--primarily for their skins--during the past three years? It's the largest slaughter of marine mammals in the world. An independent veterinary panel found that as many as 42% of these seals are skinned while alive and conscious.

The good news is that Americans have the consumer power to change this. The sealers earn most of their living as fishermen, and the Canadian fishing industry's lobbying efforts are what keeps turning the ice floes red, year after year.

But Americans buy 70% of the seafood that the Canadian fishing industry exports to the world. In fact, we buy over 3 billion dollars worth of seafood from Canada. By comparison, the seal pelts are worth only 16 million dollars to the Canadian fishing industry.

So by boycotting Canadian seafood, we can pressure this industry to stop promoting the massacres of seals and instead demand a permanent end to this atrocity.

So remember, you can save the seals by boycotting Canadian seafood. Look for "Product of Canada" labels in stores and avoid that seafood. And when you go to restaurants, ask your server where the seafood is from before ordering it. Some common Canadian imports are snow crabs, North American lobsters, and cold-water shrimp.

version 3:

This year, over 325,000 baby seals will be killed in Canada by off-season fishermen. Instead of earning their guaranteed Employment Insurance benefits an extra two weeks, they will storm the pristine ice nursery and bludgeon or shoot every seal pup in sight, skinning over a hundred thousand pups alive. All for about $40 per pelt.

This is the largest slaughter of marine mammals in the world. But Americans have the power to stop this. The sealers are fishermen, and the Canadian fishing industry is behind this bloody slaughter.

Americans buy 70% of Canada 's seafood exports. That's over 3 billion dollars worth of seafood. By comparison, the seal pelts are worth only $16 million.

We can stop the massacre. Avoid seafood with "Product of Canada" labels in stores, and ask where the seafood is from in restaurants. Boycott Canadian seafood, for the seals' sake.
