Harpseals.org Videos and Radio Commercials

Harpseals.org has short videos in several formats, including 30 second television commercials. We air these commercials as often as possible and in as many cities as our budget allows. We usually air them on cable stations like Animal Planet, Discovery, and CNN Headline News. If you would like to sponsor TV commercials, please contact us. The minimum donation to air commercials in your town is $2,000; however, you can make a donation in any amount, and we will put it toward our next run somewhere in the U.S.

In addition to our TV commercials, we have a short flash video that gives background information on the seal hunt as well as information on the Canadian seafood boycott. This poignant video can be sent to your contacts with the link below.

We also have short videos that you can download and send to friends or just link to. These videos say a lot in just a few minutes. They do have graphic violence...but that is the nature of the seal hunt.

Below, we also provide radio commercials. You can download the files and email them to your local radio stations (including college radio stations). Many stations are willing to air them as Public Service Announcements (PSA's). If they agree to air the commercials as PSA's, they will generally be played in a rotation with many others. Thus the best way to ensure that they are broadcast when there are many listeners is to purchase air time. If you would like to sponsor radio commercials, please contact us. A typical radio commercial costs $50 to $150 and several must be purchased at once.

TV Commercials and Videos

The three 30 second TV commercials below have all been aired around the U.S. The video files below are for viewing on the web. You can download them and put them on your web site, too. If you work at a TV station (including a college or public access station and would like to air these commercials as PSA's, contact us for broadcast quality media.

In addition to the TV spots, we have short videos for watching on the web and sending to your friends.

version 1

EVERY YEAR, CANADIAN FISHERMEN SHOOT, BLUDGEON AND SKIN OVER 200,000 BABY SEALS. MANY SPEND HOURS DYING IN THEIR OWN BLOOD. MANY ARE SKINNED ALIVE.

THIS IS AN INDUSTRIAL HUNT SUBSIDIZED BY THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT AND PUSHED BY CANADIAN SEAFOOD CORPORATIONS. FISHERMEN EARN VERY LITTLE OF THEIR INCOME THIS WAY. THIS SLAUGHTER CAN BE STOPPED, AND WE CAN STOP IT. JOIN THE BOYCOTT OF CANADIAN SEAFOOD.

DID YOU KNOW THAT HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF HARP SEAL PUPS ARE KILLED EVERY YEAR IN CANADA, JUST FOR THEIR FUR? THIS IS THE LARGEST MARINE MAMMAL SLAUGHTER IN THE WORLD.

BUT WE CAN STOP ALL THIS NEEDLESS SUFFERING.

THESE SEALERS ARE OFF-SEASON CANADIAN FISHERMEN. THIS SEAL HUNT CONTINUES EACH YEAR BECAUSE OF THE SUPPORT OF THE CANADIAN FISHING INDUSTRY. THAT'S WHY WE ARE BOYCOTTING CANADIAN SEAFOOD.

AMERICANS BUY 70% OF CANADA'S SEAFOOD EXPORTS. THAT'S OVER 3 BILLION DOLLARS WORTH AND ALMOST 200 TIMES THE VALUE OF ALL THE SEALS' FUR. SO WE HAVE THE POWER TO STOP THE SEAL HUNT.

PLEASE JOIN THE CANADIAN SEAFOOD BOYCOTT AND AVOID SEAFOOD WITH "PRODUCT OF CANADA" LABELS IN STORES. PLEASE ASK YOUR WAITER WHERE THE SEAFOOD IS FROM WHEN DINING OUT.

JOIN THE CANADIAN SEAFOOD BOYCOTT...FOR THE SEALS' SAKE.
