Fact 1: Individuals and organizations opposed to commercial seal killing have been trying to put an end to the Canadian seal hunt for over 40 years.

Fact 2: "The hunt" not only continues to this day but is at its HIGHEST KILL QUOTA LEVELS in the history of the hunt.

In 2005, an organized OPPOSITION to the seal hunt began growing unlike any before in history- the common goal being: TO END THE HUNT ONCE AND FOR ALL. In 2006, we strive to increase the momentum.

This page is designed with the purpose of being a tool for ALL opposed to the slaughter, regardless of their methods, philosophies, or politics. It is both a tool for all groups involved to see who and exactly what OTHER groups are doing as it pertains to the seal hunt in 2006 as well as a window for the public to openly view this process... We call for open discussion and unified strategies to achieve our ultimate goal.

THIS PAGE QUICK LINKS:
Note: In order to categorize these groups in some kind of order, Harpseals.org has
divided the groups into 3 general categories.

PRIMARY OPPOSITION | SECONDARY OPPOSITION | MORE OPPOSITION

Although there are really no specific criteria for "joining" this opposition at one of these levels, this is just a way of indicating which groups are making the seal campaign a priority. We are very grateful to all groups for working for the seals.
