Charlene Lee
This inspiring event can be ascribed to Marcelo Hoynowski. Marcelo started his career in animal welfare at age seven when he read an article about the hunting of Canadian seals. He began to do research on this cruel occurrence and at age 11, Marcelo started his own website -MyPointIs- His campaign advocates education and the importance of taking action. The website offers a collection of Marcelo’s research and passion. It verbalizes the cruelty of the Canadian Seal Hunt, and what each of us can do to make a difference. The most crucial step in helping with animal welfare is to acknowledge the issue, and voice your viewpoint.
In October of 2007, Marcelo was the first to bring IFAW’s (International Fund for Animal Welfare) International Action Award to the United States. He received this prestigious award for his movement to end seal hunts.
For more information on Marcelo’s achievements and his campaign, visit his website at http://www.mypointis.net , or visit a previous article written by the NJ Team Leader, Candace Ritz, at http://network.bestfriends.org/newjersey/news/19972.html.
