Dear [Decision Maker]
Message: [Edit below] The Canadian seal 'hunt', as you like to call it, is a stain on the Canada's reputation. It is an unacceptable, cruel, needless slaughter of innocent seal pups just a few weeks to a few months old. Your continual changes in regulations do nothing to prevent the suffering of these animals, and I will not be duped by you. With global warming melting the ice floes and making them less stable and reliable year to year, the slaughter of over 250,000 seal pups every year is placing the seal population in greater jeopardy. Canadian government scientists have said that the quotas are too high, yet you ignore them in the same way that you ignored them with regard to the cod population, which then collapsed. I urge you to spend the Canadian people's money not to promote and facilitate the seal slaughter, but to assist the Atlantic Canadian fishermen with new, sustainable, ethical ways to earn their living. I urge you to heed your own scientists' warnings, and the admonitions of university marine scientists and institute policies that protect the oceans instead of stripping them bare. I will be participating in the boycotts of Canadian seafood and tourism until your policies change and the seal slaughter is ended forever.
