OUTREACH EVENT

ORANGE INTERNATIONAL STREET FAIR

When: September 2nd- 4th, (Labor Day Weekend), 2005
Where: Orange, CALIFORNIA

Harpseals.org activists secured and tended a Community Service Booth at the Orange International Street Fair in California. This was a huge annual event with an estimated attendance of 400,000 to 500,000 people! (all potential new seal activists)

The Orange county chapter of Harpseals.org (harpseals.meetup.com) is credited for arranging this booth, with many different groups providing support materials for distribution to the attendees.

In addition to educating people all about the seal killing issues, volunteers hand painted and handed out "seal rocks" for the kids, got lots of petitions signed, recruited new volunteers, made lots of new beneficial contacts for the seals, and collected enough donations to cover the costs of the event.

(The application fee for this event was 400.00 and the insurance was 100.00, with our non-profit status allowing the volunteers to reserve the booth at a reduced rate.)
