Honourable Dwight Ball - Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
Dear [Decision Maker]
Message: [Edit below]
I am dismayed that the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial government has been wasting millions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars to rescue a dying industry - sealing. There will never again be a robust sealing 'industry'.
It's time to face facts and move forward, not bury one's head in the sand or dwell in the past.
The world has said 'no' to seal products. The slaughter of seals has stained Newfoundland's reputation and affected tourism and the fishing industry.
The world knows that sealing is cruel and unnecessary. People all over the world know that the seals are in jeopardy due to climate change, that they should be offered special protection, not slaughtered.
It is time for Newfoundland to do the right thing - for the seals, for the oceans, for its people: end the seal slaughter.
