As an Ahold shopper, an environmentalist, and a compassionate individual, I urge you to join the Canadian seafood boycott. This boycott is the most effective way that Americans can intervene in the brutal massacre of baby harp seals that takes place each year in Canada. The Canadian fishing industry promotes the seal slaughter, and several thousand fishermen participate in it each year. By boycotting all Canadian seafood, Ahold will show Americans that it cares about the plight of these defenseless seals, that it is concerned about the Canadian mismanagement of the ocean ecosystem, and that it is a good corporate citizen. Please do not delay. This annual massacre must end now.
